If your .IN domain is showing a serverHold status and appears suspended, it is due to a policy enforced by the .IN Registry (NIXI). This typically happens when the domain registrant s contact information is incomplete, invalid, or unverifiable, as per registry guidelines.
Why is My .IN Domain Suspended?
The .IN Registry (managed by NIXI) enforces strict verification policies to ensure all domain owners have valid and accurate contact information. If the submitted details during domain registration are incorrect or unverifiable, NIXI places the domain under serverHold, making it inactive and non-functional.
How to Reactivate Your .IN Domain via HIOX?
Please follow the steps below to initiate reactivation:
Step 1: Prepare the Required Documents
Make sure to have valid supporting documents ready, based on your location:
If you are a resident of India : Submit a valid Government-issued ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport, etc.) that matches the name and address in your domain contact details.
If you are not a resident of India : You must provide a valid passport copy along with a brief declaration stating the purpose of owning a .IN domain, such as business or project interests in India.
Step 2: Update Domain Contact Information
Log in to your HIOX client panel.
Navigate to the affected domain and update the Admin Contact details to match the documents you are submitting.
Select Use for all domain contacts to apply the same details across Registrant, Admin, and Billing contacts.
Confirm the verification email sent to your updated email ID.
Step 3: Email Documents to the .IN Registry (NIXI)
After updating the domain contact details, email your supporting documents to: support@nixi.in
Include the following in your email:
Domain Name(s)
Updated WHOIS details
Attached ID Proof
Brief explanation, if necessary
Activation Timeline
The .IN Registry will verify the submitted documents and update the domain status. This process may take 2 5 working days, depending on the case.
Please note: HIOX will continue to support you, but final approval lies with the .IN Registry (NIXI).
